Prof. Gunho Sohn was recognized at the Lassonde School of Engineering’s 2026 Research Awards Celebration, an annual event celebrating outstanding scientific, creative, and scholarly achievements across the Faculty. Prof. Sohn was honoured in recognition of securing a major research grant – the $1.65-million NSERC CREATE award funding the Smart Mobility Advanced Research and Training (SMART) program, a national initiative he leads to train the next generation of researchers in AI-powered, connected, and sustainable mobility systems.
He was honoured alongside fellow members of the Mobility Innovation Centre (MOVE), reflecting the depth and diversity of mobility research at York – from artificial intelligence and autonomous systems to geomatics and sustainable infrastructure.
