Prof. Gunho Sohn is featured in the latest edition of York University’s Ascend Magazine, in an article highlighting York’s leadership in developing AI-powered solutions for safer, smarter, and more sustainable urban mobility.
In the article, Prof. Sohn discusses the role of digital twins, AI-based perception systems, and 3D mobile mapping in designing and testing future mobility solutions before they are deployed in the real world. His research supports applications ranging from autonomous delivery robots and rail systems to next-generation mapping technologies, while his NSERC CREATE SMART program is preparing future leaders in AI-driven, connected, and sustainable mobility through partnerships with industry and Indigenous communities. MOVE member Prof. James Elder is also featured for his work on real-time, privacy-preserving traffic monitoring using computer vision and edge AI.
