Prof. Gunho Sohn Awarded OCI C2C Grant for AI-Enhanced Aerial Mapping of Infrastructure

We are pleased to share that Prof. Gunho Sohn has been awarded an Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) Collaborate 2 Commercialize (C2C) grant, supporting industry-partnered research that advances commercialization in mobility technology.

The two-year, $300,000 project, KAIA – Developing High-Precision Digital Twins Using AI-Enhanced Aerial Mapping, is conducted in partnership with Aethon Aerial Solutions. The research will develop an AI foundation model that integrates high-resolution imagery and LiDAR data to enable automated, object-level detection of utility infrastructure. The project aims to enhance inspection accuracy, improve infrastructure resilience, and support predictive maintenance and vegetation management through advanced digital twin technologies.
